Screen-Free Week. It will take place May 4-10, 2015 and our PC members got to share with students at lunches on Tuesday (Apr 28) about the benefits for participating. Letters were sent home on Wednesday (Apr 29) that details this challenge. Once permission slips are returned, students will receive an Activity Log (track time spend offline) and a Pledge Card (committing to this challenge for the week).
This is an opportunity for them to unplug and limit their usage of electronics for personal use. During their time of being unplugged, they can take advantage of the time they would normally spend online doing other activities. This can be as varied as playing board games or other fun stuff with family, going outside to be more active, or taking the time to work on a project that has been on hold for awhile. Other exciting ideas can be found here: 101 Screen-Free Activities.
The more family members join in, the easier it is to manage unplugging for the week. Ways to consider making this a success for you and your family can be found at Family Guide to a Great Screen-Free Week.Won’t you also join in?
